What does the IPO open date mean?

The IPO open date is the first day on which retail and institutional investors can apply for shares of a company going public. Applications submitted before this date are not accepted.

What is the difference between IPO allotment date and listing date?

The allotment date is when shares are officially allocated to successful applicants after the subscription closes. The listing date is when those shares begin trading on the stock exchange (BSE or NSE). There is typically a gap of 5–6 business days between them.

Can I apply for an IPO after the close date?

No. Applications must be submitted between the open date and close date. Once the subscription period ends, no new applications are accepted. You may buy shares on the secondary market on or after the listing date.

What is the difference between a Mainboard IPO and an SME IPO?

Mainboard IPOs are listed on the main boards of BSE or NSE and open to all investors. SME IPOs are listed on BSE SME or NSE Emerge for smaller companies, require a minimum lot value of ₹1 lakh, and are primarily aimed at sophisticated investors.
