About Frick India
Strengths
- Revenue from operations grew from Rs 36,282.80 lakh in FY23 to Rs 48,128.91 lakh in FY24, and profit after tax rose from Rs 2,852.21 lakh to Rs 4,232.35 lakh.
- Borrowings were small against the size of the business: total borrowings were Rs 2,078.31 lakh at 31 March 2024 against total equity of Rs 27,371.77 lakh.
- No single customer accounted for more than 10% of FY24 revenue, so the business does not lean on one buyer.
- The company has been in the business since 1962 and sells to dairy, seafood, meat, food, chemical and beverage customers, so its demand is spread across several industries.
- Cash and bank balances were Rs 415.71 lakh and Rs 9,057.87 lakh at 31 March 2024, and the company has paid a dividend every year in the five-year table, Rs 24.00 lakh in FY24.
- Exports brought in Rs 2,183.87 lakh in FY24 against Rs 1,639.18 lakh in FY23.
Risks
- Cash flow from operations was only Rs 141.93 lakh in FY24 against profit before tax of Rs 5,292.71 lakh, because trade receivables rose by Rs 2,867.76 lakh.
- Trade receivables were Rs 11,334.94 lakh at 31 March 2024 against Rs 8,573.80 lakh a year earlier, so delays in customer payments could hurt cash.
- Inventories of Rs 8,794.01 lakh tie up a large amount of money, and the raw material bill (Rs 32,654.48 lakh in FY24) makes margins sensitive to metal and component prices.
- Other income of Rs 1,239.84 lakh in FY24 contributed to profit before tax; it includes investment gains that may not repeat.
- Only Rs 2,183.87 lakh of FY24 revenue came from exports, so results depend mainly on Indian demand from food and cold chain projects.
- The shares are listed on the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India, where trading is thin, and unlisted share deals are off-market with indicative prices only, so buying or selling can be hard.
- Promoters held 62.45% of the shares at 31 March 2024, so they can strongly influence decisions.
- Finance costs rose to Rs 325.86 lakh in FY24 from Rs 198.51 lakh in FY23 as short term borrowings increased.
