About HDFC Securities
Strengths
- HDFC Bank is the parent and held 94.01% of the company as on 31 March 2026, which gives it a strong banking group behind it.
- The company served 78 lakh customers as of 31 March 2026, and 98% of them accessed its services digitally.
- It ranked 6th in the country by number of active clients on NSE in March 2026.
- It runs a physical network of 128 branches across more than 100 towns and cities, alongside its digital platforms.
- Standalone profit for the year was ₹92,994 lakh on revenue from operations of ₹3,10,749 lakh in FY26, a healthy profit level for a broker.
- Total equity stood at ₹3,59,592 lakh on 31 March 2026, up from ₹3,34,859 lakh a year earlier.
- Income is spread across interest income, fees and commission, and wealth products, not only brokerage.
Risks
- Profit for the year fell to ₹92,994 lakh in FY26 from ₹1,12,502 lakh in FY25, a drop of roughly one-fifth.
- Revenue from operations fell to ₹3,10,749 lakh from ₹3,26,380 lakh, as fees and commission income declined to ₹1,51,583 lakh from ₹1,74,420 lakh.
- Net cash flow from operating activities was negative ₹3,05,270 lakh in FY26, against positive ₹2,38,096 lakh in FY25, mainly because of growth in loans and bank balances.
- Debt securities rose to ₹12,93,133 lakh from ₹7,74,152 lakh, and other borrowings to ₹2,18,255 lakh from ₹20,225 lakh, so the balance sheet depends more on borrowed money.
- Broking income depends on market activity. The report describes volatile markets in FY26, and weak markets can reduce trading volumes and fees.
- The business is regulated by SEBI and the exchanges, and changes in rules on trading, margins or fees can affect earnings.
- Competition from low-cost discount brokers and other digital platforms puts pressure on brokerage rates and customer growth.
- A 94.01% holding by HDFC Bank means very little of the company is held by anyone else, so the parent's decisions drive its direction.
