About Indian Potash
Strengths
- Revenue from operations grew to ₹32,534.83 crore in FY26 from ₹20,688.91 crore in FY25, driven by higher DAP and MOP volumes.
- Profit for the year rose to ₹1,534.91 crore in FY26 from ₹1,331.15 crore in FY25, and earnings per share were ₹536.73.
- Total equity grew to ₹9,010.46 crore at 31 March 2026 from ₹7,514.85 crore a year earlier.
- The Government of India gave IPL the mandate to float a global tender for major fertilisers, which shows its standing in the import chain.
- Other income of ₹1,800.60 crore in FY26 includes dividend income of ₹1,313 crore, which supports profit alongside trading.
- Diversification into sugar, distillery and dairy gives it income streams that do not depend only on fertiliser subsidy.
Risks
- Operating cash flow was negative ₹2,233.69 crore in FY26 against profit of ₹1,534.91 crore, as trade receivables rose by ₹3,684.41 crore.
- Trade receivables stood at ₹8,246.11 crore at 31 March 2026 against ₹4,507.11 crore a year earlier, and the report says delayed government subsidy payments would hurt liquidity.
- Current borrowings rose to ₹10,173.71 crore from ₹5,191.99 crore, and finance costs more than doubled to ₹1,176.52 crore.
- The company booked a forex loss of ₹933.82 crore in FY26 as the rupee weakened, since it pays for imports in dollars.
- The report says DAP remained loss-making because government compensation was not adequate, and phosphatic fertiliser retail prices and subsidy rates are controlled.
- GST of ₹3,204 crore was blocked at 31 March 2026 because of the higher subsidy amount.
- Demand depends on the monsoon, and the report notes the IMD forecast of rainfall at 90% of the long period average for 2026.
- The three new Gujarat sugar mills are still being refurbished, and the sugar division profit fell to ₹35 crore from ₹81 crore.
