About

About Martin and Harris Laboratories

Martin and Harris Laboratories Ltd is an Indian pharmaceutical company established in 1993. On its own website it describes itself as one of India's leading pharmaceutical companies, working in research and manufacturing of finished dosage forms. These are the final medicines patients take, such as tablets and capsules. The company says it offers a wide range of products along with drug development and manufacturing solutions and value-added services. It makes medicines for domestic and international markets. It runs two manufacturing plants. The Roorkee plant in Uttarakhand started production in August 2008. It can make tablets, capsules, dry syrup, liquid orals, ointments and drug powder, and newer technologies such as dispersible and modified release tablets. It also has a separate section for hormonal products. The Gagret plant in Himachal Pradesh started production in 2010 and is described as a major site for business continuity and capacity expansion. Martin and Harris says it has worked with leading finished dosage form companies, API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) makers and contract manufacturers to commercialise technologies in certain specialised products. Its strategic alliance page mentions marketing of innovative pharmaceutical therapies, market expansion, and distribution and logistics. The company's annual reports available to us are scanned images, so we have not read or listed its revenue, profit or share count here. Please check the filed accounts before relying on any number. The company is not listed on a stock exchange and we have no IPO filing linked to it. Its shares are dealt off-market between private parties. The indicative price on this page is ₹895 per share for a lot of 100 shares, and it is only a reference, not an exchange price.

Strengths

  • The company has operated since 1993, so it has a long track record in pharmaceutical research and manufacturing.
  • It runs two plants, at Roorkee in Uttarakhand (production from August 2008) and Gagret in Himachal Pradesh (production from 2010), which spreads manufacturing across two states.
  • The Roorkee plant covers a broad set of dosage forms: tablets, capsules, dry syrup, liquid orals, ointments and drug powder, plus dispersible and modified release tablets.
  • A separate section for hormonal products at Roorkee lets the company handle a specialised product category apart from its general lines.
  • It states it has collaborated with FDF, API and contract manufacturing companies to commercialise technologies in specialised products.

Risks

  • We could not read the company's financial statements because its annual reports are scanned images, so profit, debt and cash flow are not shown here.
  • The company is unlisted, so its shares have no exchange price and trade only off-market at indicative prices that can differ from deal to deal.
  • Only two plants, at Roorkee and Gagret, make its products, so any disruption at a site could hit output.
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing is tightly regulated, and quality or compliance failures at a plant can stop production.
  • Public information about the company is limited: its website has just four pages and no investor section, so investors have little to verify.
  • No DRHP or IPO filing is linked to the company, so there is no certainty about a listing or its timing, and a lot of 100 shares may be hard to sell.
