About

About Midland Micro Finance

Midland Microfin Limited is a microfinance company headquartered in Jalandhar, Punjab. It is registered with the Reserve Bank of India as an NBFC-MFI. Its main business is small loans to women entrepreneurs in rural and semi-urban areas, mostly through the Joint Liability Group (JLG) model, where a group of borrowers stands behind each other's loans. It also offers other products such as vehicle loans and solar-linked loans. The annual report for FY26 shows a company that is still growing. Assets under management were ₹3,207.85 crore, with 1,080,733 active borrowers. The branch network was 613 at 31 March 2026, up from 517 a year earlier, and the report says it had reached 636 branches by the date of the report. The company works in 16 states and 2 union territories and added 4 new states during the year. In the financial statements (the report gives one set, standalone), total revenue from operations for FY26 was ₹6,369.57 million (about ₹637 crore) and profit for the year was ₹347.64 million, up from ₹266.73 million in FY25. Total assets rose to ₹35,176.64 million. Gross NPA stood at 1.99% and net NPA at 0.64%, and the capital adequacy ratio was 29.44%. Mr. Amardeep Singh Samra is the Managing Director and is listed as a promoter in the annual report. Mr. Parveen Kumar Gupta is the Chairman and an independent director. The board also has a nominee director, Mr. Sachin Nithyanand Kamath. The company's equity shares are not listed on any stock exchange, and the report confirms this. IPO Guru does not show an IPO filing for this company yet. Unlisted shares of a company like this are dealt off-market between private buyers and sellers, so the price shown here is only indicative. It was ₹195 per share on 14 October 2026, with a lot size of 500 shares. This is not a recommendation to buy or sell.

Strengths

  • Profit for the year rose to ₹347.64 million in FY26 from ₹266.73 million in FY25, a rise of 30.34% as per the report.
  • Asset quality is contained: gross NPA was 1.99% and net NPA 0.64% at 31 March 2026.
  • Capital adequacy ratio was 29.44% at March 2026, a wide cushion over what regulators need for an NBFC-MFI.
  • Impairment on financial instruments fell to ₹702.30 million in FY26 from ₹1,178.83 million in FY25, which helped profit.
  • Branch network grew from 517 to 613 by March 2026, and the company reports 1,080,733 active borrowers.
  • 71.78% of the portfolio is covered under the CGFMU credit guarantee scheme, which limits loss on those loans.
  • Net worth rose to ₹6,826.97 million at March 2026 from ₹6,191.74 million a year before.

Risks

  • Returns are thin: return on equity was 5.34% and return on total assets 1.11% in FY26.
  • Operating cash flow was negative at ₹3,979.16 million in FY26 (₹1,450.81 million negative in FY25), as the loan book grew faster than cash came in.
  • Funding depends on lenders and debt markets: debt securities rose to ₹12,969.36 million from ₹4,335.45 million in a year, while borrowings from banks and others were ₹13,472.07 million.
  • Revenue from operations was almost flat at ₹6,369.57 million against ₹6,357.10 million in FY25, so profit growth came from lower credit costs, not higher income.
  • Impairment cost is still large at ₹702.30 million, and a rise in bad loans would hit profit quickly.
  • The company itself says the microfinance sector went through a period of recalibration in FY26 and that portfolio concentration in a few states raised stress.
  • Microfinance loans are small, unsecured and given to low-income borrowers, who are exposed to local shocks, rule changes and over-borrowing.
  • Equity shares are not listed, so there is no exchange price. Unlisted prices are indicative, trades are off-market and liquidity can be poor.
  • Basic EPS was ₹6.64 but diluted EPS was ₹5.79, because preference shares convertible to equity exist and will dilute holders.
