About

About Paymate India

PayMate India is a business-to-business payments company. Its platform helps companies digitise and automate the payments they make to vendors, suppliers and the government. The core product is payments automation. A company can pay its vendors and taxes before the due date using commercial credit cards. According to the company, this extends the days payables outstanding, so the business holds on to its cash for longer. GST payments can be made across 28 states from a single login, and direct tax and utility bill payments are also supported. Three other products sit on the same platform. Procure-to-pay connects with a buyer's back-end systems and matches purchase orders, goods received notes and invoices. Invoice discounting is an early payment programme where large companies use surplus cash to pay vendors early in exchange for a discount on each invoice. The credit engine studies the payments flowing through PayMate to offer working capital credit, including to small businesses that are new to credit. On its website, PayMate says that, according to RedSeer estimates, it was the largest B2B payments player among online card-based payment processors in India by total payment volume in the nine months ended December 2021, with ₹464,766.45 million processed from April to December 2021. The company has also announced expansion into Singapore, Sri Lanka and other markets in Asia and the Middle East. PayMate has filed draft papers for a public issue with SEBI in the past. We have not found a recent annual report or audited financials from the company's own sources, so this page does not show revenue or profit figures. Shares of a company like this are dealt off-market through unlisted share dealers, and the prices are indicative, not exchange prices. The latest indicative price we track is ₹445 per share, with a lot size of 100 shares.

Strengths

  • The company says that, according to RedSeer estimates, it processed ₹464,766.45 million of payments on commercial credit cards from April to December 2021, which it describes as the largest in India among online card-based B2B payment players.
  • It offers a full set of services on one platform: vendor payments, GST and direct tax payments, utility bills, receivables, reconciliation, invoice discounting and a credit engine.
  • GST payments can be made across 28 states from a single login, which suits companies that operate in many states.
  • It has won industry awards, including Best B2B Payments Solutions Provider at the 11th Payments Reloaded in 2024.
  • It has named bank and card partners and has announced a tie-up with National Bank of Oman, which points to a growing presence outside India.

Risks

  • We could not find audited financials from a company-owned source, so revenue, profit and debt cannot be checked on this page.
  • The business depends on commercial credit cards issued by banks. A change in bank partnerships, card network rules or RBI norms on card payments could hurt the model.
  • The credit engine and invoice financing expose the company to the risk of buyers or vendors not paying.
  • Expansion into several new countries brings regulatory, currency and execution risk.
  • The company has been reported as planning to refile its draft IPO papers, and it is not listed yet, so there is no firm timeline for a listing.
  • Unlisted shares are traded off-market, prices are indicative and liquidity can be thin, so an investor may find it hard to sell quickly.
