About

About Sterlite Grid 5

Sterlite Grid 5 Limited (SGL 5) is the company that took over the infrastructure business of Sterlite Power Transmission Limited, now called Sterlite Electric Limited. Sterlite Electric's annual report for 2024-25 calls the entity Sterlite Grid 5 Limited (Resonia). The company's own website describes Resonia as one of India's leading developers of power transmission infrastructure, building and operating grid assets that move power from where it is generated to where it is needed. How it came about: a Scheme of Demerger moved the Infrastructure (Build-Own-Transfer) business, covering India and Brazil, out of Sterlite Electric and into SGL 5. The Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal sanctioned the scheme on 5 September 2024, and it took effect on 8 October 2024 when the order was filed with the Registrar of Companies. Sterlite Electric shareholders received one SGL 5 equity share of face value ₹2 for every one share they held, with 30 October 2024 as the record date. Sterlite Electric now focuses on power cables and conductors, EPC and convergence infrastructure. Scale, as the company's website states it: operations across 28 states, 654 villages crossed by its lines, and more than 47 million safe working hours. Projects named on the site include NRSS 29, LVTPL and MUML. The site says it works with all leading Indian EPC contractors, and that it uses mechanised and aerial methods to build in difficult terrain. We could not find a published annual report or financial statements for SGL 5 itself in an official source, so this page does not show revenue, profit or share count. The Sterlite Electric report only shows the infrastructure business as a discontinued operation up to the demerger date, and those are not SGL 5's own numbers. Check the company's filings before relying on any financial figure. SGL 5 is an unlisted company with face value ₹2. Its shares trade off-market through dealers, so prices are indicative and not set on an exchange. IPO Guru's latest indicative price is ₹308 with a lot size of 100 shares. No IPO has been announced on our data.

Strengths

  • The company's website says its transmission lines cover 28 states and cross 654 villages, which shows a wide national project footprint.
  • It reports more than 47 million safe working hours, which points to an established safety record in line construction.
  • The demerger gave it a dedicated focus on the transmission infrastructure business, held separately from Sterlite Electric's cables and EPC work.
  • Shares were issued to Sterlite Electric shareholders one for one, so it starts with an existing shareholder base from the parent.
  • It says it works with all leading Indian EPC contractors and builds with mechanised and aerial methods to handle difficult terrain.

Risks

  • No financial statements for SGL 5 itself could be verified from an official source, so profitability, debt and cash flow are unknown to us.
  • It was demerged only on 8 October 2024, so its stand-alone track record as a separate company is short.
  • Transmission projects depend on land access, right-of-way and local approvals, which the company's own website describes as a hard part of the work.
  • The business depends on EPC contractors to complete projects, so delays at partners can affect timelines.
  • Unlisted shares trade off-market through dealers, so prices are indicative, liquidity can be thin and exiting may be hard.
  • No IPO has been announced on our data, so there is no set date or price for a listing.
