About

About Tea Time

Tea Time is the brand of Desi Tea Time Limited, formerly Desi Tea Time Private Limited, a public limited company incorporated in Telangana. Its registered office is in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The company was set up in 2017. The business is a chain of tea shops run on a franchise model. The company's own accounts describe its object as setting up tea shops, coffee shops and eating houses, selling packaged tea powder, coffee powder and flavour syrups, and giving franchises to people who serve customers in the way the company lays down. Revenue includes franchise fees. The menu covers tea blends, coolers, milkshakes and flavoured milk. The company's website says it grew from 10 stores in 2017 to over 4000 franchise outlets in more than 20 states. The annual report for FY25 (year ended 31 March 2025) shows revenue from operations of ₹354,297.74 thousand and profit after tax of ₹15,698.32 thousand. A year earlier, revenue was ₹459,479.45 thousand and profit after tax was ₹21,404.63 thousand. Both revenue and profit fell in FY25. The company reports standalone and consolidated numbers; they are almost the same, because its only related company is an associate, Tea Time Entertainment Private Limited. The figures on this page are standalone. The board is led by Bakul Tangella as Managing Director, with Suresh Tangella as Whole-time Director. Bhanojee Rao Pagidoju is Whole-time Director and CFO. The company has two independent directors. The annual report says the company has only one class of equity shares, with a face value of ₹2 each. The company has not filed an IPO. Its shares are not listed on a stock exchange. Unlisted shares of a company like this trade off-market between buyers and sellers, so the price shown on IPO Guru is only an indicative figure and not an exchange price.

Strengths

  • Asset-light franchise model: the company's accounts describe franchise fees as a revenue source, and outlets are run by franchise partners.
  • The company's website says it has grown from 10 stores in 2017 to over 4000 franchise outlets across more than 20 states.
  • It stayed profitable in both FY24 and FY25, with profit after tax of ₹15,698.32 thousand in FY25 against ₹21,404.63 thousand in FY24.
  • Borrowings came down in FY25: long-term borrowings fell to ₹28,684.20 thousand from ₹40,861.25 thousand, and short-term borrowings to ₹72,418.33 thousand from ₹75,021.31 thousand.
  • Net worth is positive and growing: reserves and surplus rose to ₹105,672.73 thousand from ₹89,974.40 thousand, on a share capital of ₹195,246.15 thousand.
  • The board has two independent directors, and the company has a full-time company secretary and CFO.

Risks

  • Revenue fell in FY25 to ₹354,297.74 thousand from ₹459,479.45 thousand, and profit after tax also fell.
  • Net cash from operating activities was negative in both years: ₹-13,307.55 thousand in FY25 and ₹-64,711.36 thousand in FY24, even though the company reported profits.
  • Trade receivables rose to ₹116,843.34 thousand from ₹108,547.12 thousand, and inventory rose to ₹98,159.13 thousand. A lot of working capital is tied up.
  • Borrowings are still material, with short-term borrowings of ₹72,418.33 thousand in FY25, and the accounts show unsecured loans payable to key management personnel of ₹18,510.56 thousand.
  • A large part of assets, ₹199,660.21 thousand, is an investment in an associate, Tea Time Entertainment Private Limited. It is carried at cost and is not part of the tea business.
  • The company earns through franchisees, so its income depends on franchise partners opening and running outlets well. Outlet numbers on the website are not audited figures.
  • Reported earnings per share is small, at ₹0.16 for FY25 on a face value of ₹2.
  • The company is unlisted. Prices are indicative, trading is off-market, and there is no exchange price discovery or guaranteed liquidity.
