The Carlsberg India IPO is close to a public filing and could raise as much as $700 million, according to a Bloomberg report carried by the Economic Times on 21 October 2026. The filing could come as early as this week. Nothing has been filed publicly yet, and the report is based on unnamed people.
What the report says
The people cited say Carlsberg India, the country's second-largest brewer, will start investor roadshows next week. The IPO could launch as early as December. It is expected to be entirely a secondary share sale by the Danish parent, Carlsberg A/S.
That means an offer for sale. The money goes to the seller, not to the Indian company. Carlsberg India would get a listing but no new capital from the issue.
The report adds that size, structure and timing could still change. Carlsberg did not respond to the publication's request for comment when it was filed.
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Size | Up to $700 million (reported) |
| Structure | Entirely offer for sale (reported) |
| Draft papers | Filed confidentially in July |
| Bankers | Kotak Mahindra Capital, JPMorgan India, Citigroup India |
| Launch | As early as December (reported) |
Why a public filing matters
Carlsberg India used the confidential route. Its draft stayed out of public view while SEBI reviewed it. SEBI's observations came on 1 October, as we reported in our earlier story on the SEBI nod.
The public version is the document that carries the financials, the risk factors and the exact number of shares on sale. Until it appears, every size figure is a press estimate. The price band and dates come later still, in the red herring prospectus.
What our data shows
At about ₹5,950 crore in the reports we track, Carlsberg India is the #19 largest of 54 IPO filings and plans we have followed this year. Sixty-seven companies have filed draft papers so far this month. The company says it holds about 22% of the Indian beer market and runs seven breweries, per the same report.
The report also puts the year's IPO fundraising at about $14.4 billion so far, against a record $22 billion in 2025. Jio Platforms' offer opened for bids on 21 October.
What happens next
Watch for the public prospectus first, then the roadshows next week. If the December timeline holds, the price band would follow in the weeks after. Dates and band will appear on our upcoming mainboard IPO list as soon as they are announced. Read the original Economic Times report for the full detail.
