Jio Platforms IPO Sets Aside ₹2,500 Crore for Reliance Shareholders

The Jio Platforms IPO shareholder quota is worth up to ₹2,500 crore, set aside for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders. Each person can bid up to ₹2 lakh in it. The issue opens on 21 October 2026 and closes on 23 October.

Who can use the shareholder quota?

Individuals and HUFs who were public shareholders of Reliance Industries (RIL) on the date the red herring prospectus (RHP) was filed. That date was 14 October 2026. Kotak Neo reports that it is the cut-off for the reservation, and that shares bought after it do not qualify.

One RIL share is enough, according to the Sunday Guardian. It adds that, because of T+1 settlement, shares had to be bought by 13 October to settle in time. So buying RIL now does not create eligibility. Check the RHP for the full conditions.

The quota is a separate pool. It is not a percentage of the full issue. By our arithmetic, ₹2,500 crore is about 8.3% of ₹30,213 crore.

How many lots fit under the ₹2 lakh cap?

One lot is 12 shares. At the upper band of ₹1,119, that is ₹13,428. Fourteen lots cost ₹1,87,992. A fifteenth would take the bid to ₹2,01,420, above the cap. So the largest bid in the quota is 14 lots, or 168 shares.

Can you also apply as a retail investor?

Yes, subject to the rules. The Sunday Guardian reports that the RHP does not treat an eligible shareholder's bid in the reserved category and a bid in the retail or NII category as a prohibited multiple bid, if each stays within its limits. Confirm the permitted combination with your broker. Eligibility does not guarantee allotment. That depends on demand within the reserved pool.
