What Molbio reported
Kotak Neo links the September jump to the company's first results as a listed firm. Molbio reported on 7 September that total income for the April to June quarter rose to ₹411.48 crore from ₹100.47 crore a year earlier. It also moved to a consolidated profit of ₹52.74 crore from a loss of ₹23.94 crore. The company said higher use of its Truenat test kits drove the change. Truenat is its portable, battery-run molecular testing system.
What our data shows
The IPO was a ₹939.7 crore issue, mostly an offer for sale, and it closed at 70.26x, the 35th most subscribed of 101 mainboard issues this year. The median is 24.96x. Retail booked 12.96x. Our last GMP was ₹120, or 14.87%, so the grey market understated the 21.44% listing gain by about 6.6 points. Across the last 10 mainboard listings, the final GMP overstated the gain five times and understated it five times.
For scale, 66 of the 100 mainboard IPOs listed in 2026 opened above their issue price, and the median listing gain is 6.92%. One lot of 18 shares cost ₹14,526 at the upper band. At ₹1,626 the same 18 shares are worth ₹29,268. Prices move every day, and this figure is a snapshot, not a forecast.
What the IPO looked like
Molbio sold shares in a price band of ₹768 to ₹807. The issue mixed a fresh issue of up to ₹200 crore with an offer for sale, where existing shareholders sell and the company gets nothing. The fresh money was meant for an R&D facility and a Centre of Excellence, plus plant and machinery at its Goa and Visakhapatnam units. The lead managers were Kotak Mahindra Capital, IIFL Capital, Jefferies India and Motilal Oswal. Of Kotak's 19 earlier listings on our records, 15 opened above the issue price.
